We’re delighted to welcome you to Nuwe Lingen. We hope you enjoy your stay in our home and that it brings you rest, inspiration, and connection with the beauty of Hermanus.

This house manual is intended to help you get settled and make the most of your stay. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

 

General House Rules

  • No smoking inside the house. Please use the designated outdoor areas.

  • No loud music or disruptive noise, especially after 10 PM.

  • Please respect our neighbours and the quiet nature of the cul-de-sac.

  • Only guests included in the booking are permitted to stay overnight.

  • Please report any damage or breakages. Guests are liable for damage beyond normal wear and tear.

 

Check-in & Key Access

  • Check-in is from 14h00.

  • The key is stored in a lockbox outside the property. You will receive the code via SMS or WhatsApp on the day of arrival.

  • Please ensure the lockbox is securely closed after use.

  • Early check-in may be arranged, depending on availability.

 

Check-out Procedure

  • Check-out time is 10h00.

  • Please ensure all windows are closed and doors are locked.

  • Place used towels in the bathroom.

  • Load any dirty dishes into the dishwasher or wash them before departure.

  • The cleaners may arrive from 09h00 to begin with outdoor work, dishes, or organising the storeroom.

  • Please leave the key in the lockbox upon departure.

  • Late check-out may be arranged on request, subject to availability.

 

Housekeeping

  • A standard cleaning fee applies to all bookings.

  • For extended stays, our housekeeping team typically services the house twice a week. This includes a general clean and linen refresh every four days.

  • Additional cleaning can be arranged at your request.

  • Fresh towels can be supplied on request.

 

Load Shedding & Solar Backup

  • The house is equipped with a solar backup system during power outages.

  • Wi-Fi, essential lights, TV, and some appliances remain operational.

  • High-energy appliances such as the oven, stove, and air conditioning may be unavailable during load shedding periods.

  • Rechargeable lanterns and candles are provided.

  • Load shedding schedules and updates are available via the EskomSePush app.

 

Kitchen & Appliances

  • The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, and Nespresso machine.

  • A starter set of tea, coffee, rusks, and bottled water is provided.

  • Please do not leave the dishwasher or washing machine running when you leave the property.

  • Remember to switch off the gas at the wall tap when not in use.

 

Pool & Garden

  • The splash pool features a sliding deck cover—please take care when opening and closing it.

  • No diving or rough play in the pool.

  • Children must be supervised at all times around the pool.

  • The fynbos garden is for your enjoyment. Please be mindful of the plants and wildlife.

  • Braai facilities are available on the veranda. Please clean the braai after use.

 

Technology & Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi is free and unlimited. The password is displayed in the living area.

  • A smart TV is available with access to DSTV, Netflix, and other streaming services.

  • Please do not unplug or tamper with the router or electrical setup.

 

Baby & Child Amenities

  • Children of all ages are welcome.

  • A cot and high chair are available on request.

  • Please supervise children at all times, especially near the pool and fireplace.

 

Pets

  • Well-behaved pets may be allowed by prior arrangement.

  • Please bring your own pet bedding, bowls, and towels.

  • Pets are not allowed on beds or furniture.

  • Please clean up after your pet, especially in the garden.

 

Emergencies & Security​

  • Your safety is important to us. Please take note of the following emergency and security information:

  • Fire Safety:
    A fire extinguisher is available in the kitchen as well as near the fireplace and braai area. Please familiarize yourself with their locations upon arrival.

  • Property Security:
    The house is equipped with an alarm system and external security cameras monitoring the entrance gate. These systems are connected to a local security response company (Safe Security - 028 3130 777) for your peace of mind.

  • Emergency Alert:
    The panic button (red) on the house remote should be used only in the case of a real emergency. Pressing it will automatically alert the security company, who will dispatch a responder vehicle to the property.
